Jul 17, 2017 at 6:16 | comment | added | Dhamma Dhatu | I have not read the Buddha says many times in the suttas that everyone has the ability to become awakened, In fact, I have read the Buddha said the opposite of this in MN 26 (parable of the lotuses) and AN 10.95. Regards

Jun 29, 2014 at 20:02 | comment | added | Sankha Kulathantille | The short answer is that the Buddha is omniscient. Arahaths are not. An Arahath may not even have any special powers.

Jun 29, 2014 at 19:51 | comment | added | Sāmaṇera Jayantha | I will check it out as ive never heard of this before. My response comes directly from Bhikkhu Bodhi's audio series(The buddhas teaching as it is) on the basics of theravada Buddhism.
Jun 29, 2014 at 19:49 | comment | added | Sankha Kulathantille | "there is no difference between a buddha and an arahant in terms of wisdom/ability etc in Theravada" - This is not true. Read about the "Shad-asadharana Nana". There are 73 types of Nanas(knowledge/Wisdom) in total. An Arahath can only achieve 67 of them.
