I'm a guy from Takoma Park, MD.
I am a self identifying, independent, secular Buddhist. For me that means, finding and rehabilitating all the good parts of Buddhism to make them compatible with my sense of modernity, science and progressive western values.
At the moment, my current interests include Chinese Buddhism-- especially Hua-yen-- Mahayana Sutras, Russian Buddhism, Children's Buddhism. Just because I read it doesn't mean I believe it, just because I don't believe it, doesn't mean I won't be able to extract a useful personal practice.
My cat has racked up more hours on my meditation cushion that I have.
