Xeric gardener, genealogy fan, pet owner, empty-nester, among many other things, including Buddhist, writer, and Buddhist-writer (author of "Dependent Arising in Context").
Just came to StackExchange after watching the first episode of Dharma & Greg, when the phrase "Shut up!" was used twice: wondering if they invented the use of that phrase to express delighted surprise. The episode aired on 24 September 1997, which seems to be earlier than any of the other examples on Spare Ooms question over on the English Language page. But StackExchange doesn't trust me to answer, and I doubt I'll gain 50 reputation in this century (I'll die long before the century is up).
