It is also called the Pāḷi Tipiṭaka since it is divided in three sections (tipiṭaka, "three baskets") of teachings, such as, the Discipline Basket (Vinaya Piṭaka), Discourse Basket (Sutta Piṭaka) & Higher Teachings Basket (Abhidhamma Piṭaka).
