Apr 18, 2015 at 15:30 comment added Adamokkha This seems problematic; isn't it the orthodox view that the Buddha studied with numerous other Buddha's prior to his final birth? Therefore, since those buddhas would have taught vipassana, then it seems like the Buddha would certainly have practiced that as well, although, according to the view, not up to the level of liberation (at least not to full enlightenment).
